2018
Project Tartini

In 2018, as part of the European cross border project tARTini, the Slovenian Philharmonic Chamber String Orchestra performed at the concert Tartini and His Students, held within the 66th Ljubljana Festival. Renowned violinist Črtomir Šiškovič joined the orchestra as the soloist of the evening.

2019
Project Tartini

In 2019, as part of the European cross border project tARTini, the following concerts were held: At the 34th Slovenian Music Days, violinists Črtomir Šiškovič and Nika Toškan performed together with the Slovenian Philharmonic Chamber String Orchestra at the Church of Saint George in Piran. As part of the summer programme of the 67th Ljubljana Festival, the Chamber Orchestra of La Scala, Milan, performed in the capital, followed by a concert in Piran the next day.

2020
Project Tartini

In 2020, we marked the 250th anniversary of the death of the renowned violinist, violin pedagogue, composer, and music theorist Giuseppe Tartini (1692–1770), who was born in Piran. Through the concert Reflections of Tartini, a performance by Boris Bizjak, Domen Marinčič and Tomaž Sevšek Šramel, a concert by Richard Galliano, Massimo Mercelli and the chamber orchestra I Solisti Aquilani, and a recital by violinist Črtomir Šiškovič, the Ljubljana Festival joined the European cross border project tARTini. The project connects institutions from Piran through Ljubljana and Trieste to Padua, with the aim of promoting cultural tourism and the heritage of this exceptional composer.

Črtomir Šiškovič

Črtomir Šiškovič, a violinist and violist from Trieste, has been performing Baroque music on period instruments for over 20 years. He is particularly dedicated to the works of Giuseppe Tartini, whose 250th anniversary of death is being commemorated this year. Šiškovič has recorded all 31 of Tartini’s solo violin sonatas, performed worldwide, and received the Prešeren Fund Award. The concert dedicated to Tartini is part of the 68th Ljubljana Festival and the European cross-border project tARTini.

Internationally acclaimed flautist Boris Bizjak will perform a programme of Baroque music as part of the European project tARTini and the accompanying events of the 68th Ljubljana Festival. He will be joined by renowned Slovenian specialists Tomaž Sevšek Šramel and Domen Marinčič. The concert, dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the death of Giuseppe Tartini, will highlight historically informed performance practices and the rich cultural heritage of the Slovenian region.

Reflections of Tartini

Cellist Bernardo Brizani will perform with the Slovenian Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra at the Ljubljana Festival concert dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the death of Giuseppe Tartini. The program will include Tartini's Sinfonia, Haydn's Cello Concerto and a work by Uroš Krek. The concert is taking place as part of the European project tARTini.

The La Scala Chamber Orchestra in Milan will perform works by Tartini with guests Massimo Mercelli and Massimo Quarto. The concerts will take place in Ljubljana and Piran as part of the tARTini project, which connects cities of Tartini's heritage and promotes cultural tourism.

The Slovenian Music Days are moving to Piran, the birthplace of Giuseppe Tartini, one of the most important violinists and composers of the 18th century, with their third concert. The concert will pay tribute to his musical oeuvre and the influence he left throughout Europe with his art.
