Culture is also alive in winter
An undoubted highlight of the cultural life of Slovenia’s capital city in late February and early March next year will be the Winter Festival, which has now reached its eighth edition. The thoughtfully designed programme includes symphonic and chamber concerts and a very special recital, all performed by top-tier classical musicians of worldwide renown. This year’s festival also includes an international competition.
Grigory Sokolov, piano
Russian piano master Grigoriy Sokolov blends Byrd’s Renaissance polyphony with Brahms’s Romantic expressiveness in this recital.
Zagreb Soloists
The Zagreb Soloists, one of the most prestigious string ensembles in the region, will perform a program of youthful and masterful works by Mendelssohn, Britten, Mahler and Tchaikovsky.
Bach's Chorales and instrumentals
Marko Hatlak, along with guests and the Choir of the Glasbena Matica Ljubljana, will present arrangements of Bach's works at the Winter Festival.
Mojca Zlobko Vajgl and Marion Ravot
Harpists Mojca Zlobko Vajgl and Marion Ravot will present a varied program from Baroque to Impressionism at the Winter Festival, with the premiere performance of a new work by Aldo Kumar.
Benjamin Britten: War Requiem
The opening of the 8th Winter Festival will be marked by a performance of Britten's War Requiem conducted by Charles Dutoit, with top soloists and choirs from Kaunas and Vienna.
