More information

Ensemble Dissonance brings together established Ljubljana musicians who are dedicated to maintaining the highest level of chamber music and seeking new paths for its development. The ensemble commissions works by Slovenian composers, connects experienced and young artists, and opens a space for creative encounters. This time they are joined by Spanish conductor Miguel Ángel Navarro, a regular guest of prominent chamber ensembles, including the London Covent Garden soloists, and trumpeter Vicente Campos, professor and director of the Castellón Conservatory. Together they will create a program that brings a distinctive Mediterranean pulse: Boccherini's String Quintet No. 6 evokes the nocturnal sounds of Madrid., Granados in the opera Goya's Picture Book revives the world of the painter's images, and Ferrer Ferran combines the intimacy of a personal dedication with the musical tradition of Valencia in his composition Mar i Bel. The second part of the evening juxtaposes a violin concerto by the local Baroque master Giuseppe Tartini and the Catalan composer Eduardo Toldráj, who in the cycle Vistas al mar draws a sound image of the sea based on the verses of Joan Maragallo. The concert offers a meeting of different periods and styles, connected in a common Mediterranean story.
