More information
The Sons de la plana clarinet quartet was formed within the creative environment of the Castellón Superior Music Conservatory Salvador Seguí (de la Plana). In 2023 Damián Ruiz Peñarrubia, Pau Gargallo Llorens, Raúl Tena Planelles and Josep Doménech Signes came together to explore the expressive possibilities of the clarinet. They share the same musical vision: precision, sensitivity and a strong connection with the audience. Their aim is to move and engage diverse audiences while exploring new interpretative and performance approaches. The quartet performs a varied repertoire that combines technically demanding works with emotionally rich and communicative pieces, striving to build bridges between academic music and a wider audience. It dedicates special attention to promoting the contemporary chamber repertoire, with a particular focus on female composers and artists from the Valencia region. Through their performances, the ensemble seeks to present chamber music as a living art form that is constantly evolving and profoundly enriched by the connections among the performers, works and listeners.
The Element Sax Quartet is made up of students at the Castellón Superior Music Conservatory Salvador Seguí. Vicent Pallarés previously studied at the conservatory in Onda, Elia Lucia Renau at the conservatories of Onda and Mestre Tárrega in Castellón, Ernest Almudever at the San Rafael conservatory in Buñol, while Ruth Villanueva, who is studying music education in addition to the saxophone, previously attended the conservatory in Calasancio. In just a few months after its formation, the ensemble already distinguished itself by winning second prize at the conservatory competition and first prize in the Giovani in Crescendo Music and Singing Competition. Under the mentorship of the saxophone professor José Luis Garrido Antequera and the chamber music professor Sergio Rodrigo, the quartet has built a solid foundation in technique and interpretation, allowing it to perform works of various styles with the appropriate sensitivity, precision and character. The quartet members strive for both individual and collective artistic growth; playing in the quartet provides them with a place for learning, expression and creativity, where each musician is an essential part of a shared sonic identity.
