Daily workshop schedule
1. Monday, 7. 7. 2025 (Day 1) - CARDBOARD INSTRUMENTS
On the first day of the workshop, we’ll make instruments out of cardboard. Using different kinds of paper, cardboard and string, the children will create 3D models of instruments such as guitars, violins, trumpets and more. After completing the basic shapes, the children will paint them with acrylic paints and decorate them with patterns and unique designs. At the end, the children will have a full orchestra of instruments to play with.
2. Tuesday, 8. 7. 2025 (Day 2) - MOSAIC- COLLAGE
On the second day of the Little Arts Colony, we’ll create colourful mosaics out of paper. The children will first cut out simple squares from sheets of coloured paper, and then carefully glue them onto the cardboard base. Next, they’ll trace their own sketches to create geometric colour compositions. This technique will help them learn about mosaics in a fun way.
3. Wednesday, 9. 7. 2025 (Day 3) - GRAPHICS - COLLAGRAPHY
On the third day we will create collagraph prints. We will use materials of various shapes and textures, such as string, foam, lace, cardboard and other recycled items, and glue them onto cardboard, arranging them in interesting compositions. In this way we’ll create relief plates, which we’ll then coat with printing ink and print on paper. The children will learn about the process of creating graphics and printmaking and take away a plate that they can use to make their own prints at home.
4. Thursday, 10. 7. 2025 (Day 4) - COLOURFUL CANDLE JARS
On the fourth day of the workshop, the children will create colourful candle containers by recycling old glass jars in a creative way. They will glue various patterned napkins and coloured pieces of paper onto ordinary glass jars to create unique lamps that will give off colourful light and interesting patterns when a candle is lit inside them.
5. Friday, 11. 7. 2025 (Day 5) - EXHIBITION
On the last day of the workshop, we will prepare an exhibition for parents, relatives, friends and art enthusiasts to showcase the products that have been made during the week. The works of art on display will show the power of children to express themselves and the products of their creativity in the shelter of Plečnik’s Križanke.
