In postwar Yugoslavia, jazz is seen as an undesirable symbol of Western influence. A group of young radio musicians embarks on a tour of work sites, where their performances are meant to support the socialist five-year plan and serve as a form of re-education. During the bus tour, under ideological supervision and driven by dreams of freedom, tensions within the group begin to rise. When one of them escapes across the border, the success of the tour and the fate of the entire group become uncertain.
