About the event
A musical wave through the heart of the city
Due to illness, there has been a change in the performers on Wednesday, 18 June 2025.
Concerts on the boats are free. The cost of a one-hour boat trip during the festival is the same for all boats: 15 € for adults and 8 € for children (aged 3–12).
Sometimes the most special moments happen unexpectedly. As boats glide on the water and sounds echo between bridges, something unique comes alive. In the heart of Ljubljana, nature and art breathe together. This is not an ordinary concert, but an experience where music moves from halls to the river, filled with the energy of young creators.

More information
Trbuhovica, Obrh, Stržen, Rak, Pivka, Unica and Ljubljanica are the seven names of a river with a rich archaeological and cultural history that, for the tenth year in a row, as part of the summer festival, will be transformed into an enchanting concert venue. This tradition is modelled on the musical regattas organised by the amateur musicians of the first predecessor of today’s Slovenian Philharmonic in the early 18th century. With these events, these artists, who were not limited to inaccessible performances of »the most select music« in indoor venues, brought joy to the entire population of the capital, residents and visitors alike, and filled the riverbanks with the sound of music. The Ljubljana Festival on the Ljubljanica continues this tradition and offers a unique musical experience that combines rich cultural history with the city’s vibrant summer atmosphere. As young musicians from the Ljubljana Academy of Music and the Ljubljana Conservatory of Music and Ballet perform a diverse selection of music, listeners can join them aboard a riverboat and together experience a journey along the river that flows through the historic heart of Slovenia’s capital city. The blend of music, water and the city’s picturesque bridges and embankments will create an unforgettable event in which history, art and nature combine in pleasing harmony
