ADDA·Simfònica Alicante (P. Zukerman, E. Dindo)

ADDA Simfònica Alicante’s musical personality reflects that of its founder and chief conductor Josep Vicent, famous for his versatility and charisma. Nominated for both a Grammy and a Latin Grammy for their album Ritmo. The Chick Corea Symphony Tribute, which they presented at the 72^nd Ljubljana Festival, the orchestra is famed for its broad repertoire, innovative programming and multimedia techniques. The orchestra will be joined by two top figures of the classical music world, the Israeli-American musician Pinchas Zukerman, a legendary violinist, violist and conductor for more than half a century. His discography extends to more than a 100 albums, two Grammy awards and 21 nominations. They will be joined by cellist Enrico Dindo, former principal cellist of the La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra in Milan and winner of first prize at the Mstislav Rostropovich Competition in Paris.

Camille Saint-Saëns’s Cello Concerto No. 1  departs from the conventional three-movement form, unfolding in a single continuous span with clearly defined sections, while the cello remains dramatically to the fore throughout. Regarded as one of the cornerstones of the repertoire, Ludwig van Beethoven’s Violin Concerto  is a work that emphasises expansive lyricism and an almost symphonic conception rather than technical display. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36  is regarded as one of his most personal works. It is permeated by the idea of fate, which is already heard in the opening fanfare motif and returns as a central idea throughout all the movements. Despite its dramatic tension, the symphony leads from inner conflict to a triumphant conclusion.
