Winner of the 2024 inaugural Sorel-Tracy International Piano Competition, pianist Jonathan Mak made his orchestral debut at the age of four. Since then, he has appeared as a guest soloist with numerous orchestras, most notably the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. Recent engagements include performances of Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat major, Op. 83 by Johannes Brahms with the Trois-Rivières Symphony Orchestra, Kingston Symphony Orchestra and the Shepherd School Symphony Orchestra. He is a recipient of the Michael Measures Prize from the Canada Council for the Arts, as well as the Sylva Gelber Music Foundation Award. Currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, studying with J. Kimura Parker. Jonathan also holds degrees from the Yale School of Music and the Cleveland Institute of Music.
