Hangon Rhyu was born in Seoul, South-Korea , in 1999. He began studying piano with D. Kim at the age of seven and gave his debut recital in Seoul at the age of eleven. He has won many piano competitions in Korea, including the Suri Music Competition and the Hanguk Ilbo Piano Competition, and was a finalist at the 61st Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition at the age of eighteen. He finished his bachelor’s degree at the Hannover University of Music, Drama and Media under the tutelage of C. Oakden and is currently pursuing his master’s degree at the Münster University of Music with A. von Arnim.
