Born in November 2000, the Chinese pianist Yangrui Cai began his piano studies at the age of four. Between the age of eight to twelve he studied with J. Sun, and then continued under Dr. V. Li of the Xinghai Conservatory of Music until going to college. In 2016, Yangrui was admitted to the Xinghai Conservatory Middle School after ranking first in the national audition. He has since then taken top prizes in all the major national competitions in China. Since a young age, Yangrui has given solo recitals in China, Japan, Germany, Denmark, Italy, France, Canada, and the United States, and appeared as soloist with the Hong Kong Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, and Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra in China, the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra in Japan, and the TIMM Ensemble in Italy. Yangrui has been a full scholarship recipient of numerous influential music festivals, such as the Morningside Music Bridge and Tanglewood Music Festival. He has performed in masterclasses with D. Bashkirov, A. Pompa-Baldi, S. Ioudenitch, Y. Kaplinsky, L. Natochenny, M. Dalberto, K. Jablonski, P. Donohoe, C. Yin, T. Son Dang and H. Gutirrez. Upon his graduation with distinction from the Middle School of Xinghai Conservatory in July 2019, Yangrui was admitted to several prestigious conservatories in US with full scholarships. He is currently a third year undergraduate student in Oberlin Conservatory, under the tutelage of world-renowned pianist S. Ioudenitch.
