Roman Lopatynskyi was born in Kyiv in 1993. He started playing the piano at the age of five and won his first special prize at eight. In 2009 the young pianist entered the class of B. Petrushansky at the Imola International Academy Foundation “Incontri con il Maestro” in Italy. In the same year, he started studying with S. Riabov at the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine. As a laureate of over 20 international piano competitions, such as the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition, Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition in Bolzano and International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz in Kyiv, Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition, he is one of Ukraine’s most prominent and aspiring young pianists. He is a regular guest of renowned international concert halls and festivals such as the Ginza Hall (Tokyo), Steinway Hall (New York), the Mariinsky International Piano Festival (St. Petersburg), International Next Generation Young Euro Classic Festival (Bad Ragaz, Switzerland), and the Heidelberg Spring Music Festival, and has enjoyed successful collaborations with the National Symphony Orchestra and the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the German Radio Philharmonic Saarbrücken, Arena di Verona Orchestra and the Filarmonica del Teatro Comunale di Bologna. Roman Lopatynskyi has also performed in the Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna.
