The Midway Brass is a heavily active brass quintet in the greater Kansas City Area. The group, formed in 2023, is based at the University of Kansas, where its members, Nic Weaver and Keith Popiel (trumpets), Brooklynne McGonagle (french horn), Nicholas Kazmierczak (trombone), and Josie Jones (tuba), are all currently studying. The quintet has performed recitals at the University of Kansas and Washburn University, and, in this coming year, it plans to perform more recitals at more universities in the region, including Benedictine College. An important goal of The Midway Brass is community outreach, and the ensemble frequently performs at events for the University of Kansas, community programs/events, and numerous K-12 schools in the state of Kansas. This year, The Midway Brass was featured at the University of Kansas Collage Concert and will be featured at the University of Kansas Prairie Winds Festival.
