Due to bad weather the concert of The Hortus Musicus Ensemble will take place in Knight's Hall, Križanke
On Tuesday, August 11 at 8.15 pm, The Hortus Musicus Ensemble from Estonia will take place in Knight's Hall, Križanke.They invite you to an evening of mixed cultures from various periods – ancient and medieval Jewish, Indian, Arabian and European sounds, as well as poetry, all of which will be brought to life in the mirror of the perception and understanding of musicians of today. The music will sound as a search for eternal harmony (faith, hope and love), without reference to religious creed or the current historical circumstances. With their programme Hortus Musicus seeks to bridge the temporal distance and geographical borders between countries, and to demonstrate that Indian raga and Italian istampitta have more similarities than differences, and that ancient Armenian and Israeli liturgical music goes hand in hand with the spiritual creations of contemporary composers, as if reacquainting with distant relatives. The ensemble of ten musicians – singers and multi-instrumentalists on European and non-European instruments, under the artistic direction of Andres Mustonen – will for one evening ensure that the enormous world becomes comfortably small.
