Presentation of Kozje Municipality and opening of an exhibition by the Glassmakers society of slovenia

Between 10am and 6pm on 12 September, Ljubljana Castle will host a presentation of Kozje Municipality showcasing traditional arts and crafts, unspoilt nature and the many riches of Kozjanski Park, and the region’s tourist and cultural attractions.

Kozje Municipality boasts a long tradition of glassmaking, and it is thanks to the Kozjansko glassmakers – members of the Kozje-based Glassmakers Society of Slovenia – that the whole municipality of Kozje will be presented at the Castle. The artisans will also showcase their work and demonstrate their glassblowing skills, while local artists will adorn the finished products with engraving.

But glassmakers are only a part of the show, as 10am will see the arrival of mediaeval lords and ladies of the castle. Kozje Municipality is one of the few places with three squares and two pillory posts. After a trial at the pillory post, which will be attended by their lordship, a number of artists will take to the stage, from folklore dancers to young accordionists. There will also be a round table discussion on Kozje apples and wine. Before the round table, there will be a founding meeting of the Society of Former Residents of Kozje.

Visitors to Ljubljana Castle will have the whole day to admire the Kozje artisans at work, sample local delicacies at stalls, and taste the local wine presented by renowned Slovenian wine expert Darja Bovha. There will also be plenty of apples and apple juice made from old Kozjansko apple varieties.

Since both Kozje and Ljubljana have their own dragon, and since the one from Ljubljana likes to take a nap in the summer, Kozje locals will also be bringing their own beast of fire to Ljubljana Castle.
